SYMBOL

SYMBOL is a diploid hybrid of sugar beet on a sterile basis of the normal (N) type, developed by Lion Seeds breeding. It features a medium maturity period and a single-stem plant type with semi-spreading leaves. The root crop has an improved broadly conical shape with a shallow furrow and is buried in the soil by 80-90%, which facilitates harvesting and improves technological efficiency during storage. The average root crop mass is about 721 grams.

The hybrid is characterized by high yield — on average from 500 to 600 centners per hectare, with sugar content in root crops ranging from 17.4% to 20%. Sugar recovery reaches 95.5 centners per hectare or 11.1 tons per hectare, making SYMBOL a promising and high-productivity variety for industrial cultivation. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Central Black Earth, and Ural regions, including the Ryazan region.

SYMBOL possesses good resistance to the main diseases of sugar beet: cercosporosis, ramularia, root rots, powdery mildew, and root aphid — at a medium level, and rhizomania — at a high level. The hybrid tolerates elevated temperatures and drought well, ensuring crop stability under various climatic conditions. Thanks to these qualities and high technological efficiency during harvesting and storage, SYMBOL is the optimal choice for mass production and long-term storage of sugar beet.
