UKRAINIAN MS 72

UKRAINIAN MS 72 is a single-seed diploid hybrid of sugar beet of the first generation on a sterile Z-type base, intended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth, Ural, and North Caucasian regions. The hybrid belongs to late-maturing varieties with a saccharine plant type and is characterized by average height. The root crop has a wide-conical shape of medium length and a mass of about 515 grams. UKRAINIAN MS 72 demonstrates high yield and sugar content, making it competitive compared to standard varieties in various regions.

In the Central Black Earth region, the average yield of root crops is about 435 c/ha, sugar content reaches 18.6–19%, and sugar collection reaches up to 90 c/ha. In the North Caucasian region, the yield is significantly higher — about 639 c/ha, with a sugar content of 16.6% and sugar collection of 107 c/ha. In the Ural region, the hybrid also shows good results, exceeding standards in yield and sugar collection, despite a slight decrease in sugar content. UKRAINIAN MS 72 differs in disease resistance: weak damage from root rots and cercosporosis, medium damage from powdery mildew and root eelworm, which ensures yield stability.

Sugar beet UKRAINIAN MS 72 is an important raw material for sugar production and related products. During processing, all parts of the plant are used: sugar, pulp, molasses, and defect. Molasses is used in the production of alcohol, glycerin, citric acid, and other substances, while defect serves as a valuable fertilizer. Pulp is used as nutritious feed for agricultural animals. In addition, ethanol is obtained from sugar beet, which can serve as alternative fuel, highlighting its economic and environmental significance.
