Description
ZEMIS is a single-stem diploid sugar beet hybrid developed by Lion Seeds selection, created on a sterile basis of normal type. This medium-maturity hybrid is characterized by high yield – up to 49.6 tons per hectare, as well as high sugar content in roots, reaching 18.2%. The root shape is cylindrical-conical with deep soil burial (80-90%), which contributes to good development and protection from adverse conditions.
The hybrid has high resistance to root rots and rhizomania, as well as medium resistance to diseases such as cercospora, ramularia, and powdery mildew. Thanks to these qualities, ZEMIS demonstrates stable yield and sugar content indicators in various growing regions. In addition, the hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance, which is especially important for regions with insufficient moisture.
Sugar beet ZEMIS is a heat-loving and heat-resistant culture, the optimal temperature for its growth being 20-22°C, however, photosynthesis proceeds effectively even at temperatures above 40°C. The plant requires sufficient moisture, especially during the intensive growth of roots in July-August. Thanks to the well-developed root system, capable of absorbing water to a depth of up to 2.5 meters, the hybrid withstands drought well and maintains high indicators under adverse weather conditions.
