Description
The BALOVEN sunflower variety is a mid-season, large-fruited sunflower recommended for cultivation in the Western Siberia region, particularly in the Omsk region. This variety was included in the State Register in 2010 and developed by the Federal Scientific Center of the All-Russian Research Institute of Oilseed Crops named after V.S. Pustovoyta. The plant is characterized by lack of branching, medium or high growth, and large seeds of oval-elongated shape with a black base color and marginal stripes, without spotting.
The leaves are of medium size, green in color with slight blistering and medium serration of the edge. Flowers are yellow: ray florets are oval-shaped, tubular florets with absent or very weak anthocyanin coloration of the styles. The head is large, turned downward at maturity, with a flat seed side. The average seed yield in the Omsk region reaches 20.5 centners per hectare, indicating the high productivity of the variety.
BALOVEN variety seeds are distinguished by high mass — 1000 seeds weigh about 81.3 grams, and the mass share of pure kernel is 51.0%. The shatter coefficient is 0.94, indicating good processability during processing. Average oil content in seeds reaches 49.4%, making this variety attractive for oil production. Due to its characteristics and adaptation to the climatic conditions of Western Siberia, the BALOVEN variety is a reliable choice for agricultural producers in the region.
