Description
Corsica is a mid-maturing linoleic sunflower hybrid of intensive type, developed using innovative A.I.R. technology, which enables efficient use of herbicides based on imazamox, imazapyr, or tribenuron-methyl depending on field weediness. The hybrid is adapted for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and forested regions of Ukraine and demonstrates maximum yield potential when intensive cultivation technology and proper crop rotation are followed. Recommended sowing rate varies depending on soil moisture: from 45 to 55 thousand seeds per hectare.
Corsica is distinguished by high oil content in seeds — from 48 to 53%, making it attractive for oilseed production. Plants reach a height of 160-180 cm, have medium-sized heads, and a 1000-seed mass within 55-65 grams. The hybrid exhibits good head pollenization, contributing to high yield potential, which may reach up to 55 centners per hectare.
One of the key features of Corsica is its high genetic resistance to major sunflower diseases, including downy mildew (races A-G), false powdery mildew, fomopsis, fomosis, alternaria, rust, and sclerotinia in various forms. Additionally, the hybrid is tolerant to stem lodging and drought, ensuring yield stability under various climatic conditions.
