Description
Durban KS sunflower is an early-maturing, simple linoleum hybrid developed by the French company Saussade Semences. The plant is characterized by high initial growth energy and a vegetation period of 95 to 102 days. The low-growing sunflower, about 102 cm tall, features good row alignment, abundant foliage, and a strong structure. Flowering occurs on day 47–49, and the large convex head is slightly inclined, promoting effective yield formation.
Durban KS hybrid offers high potential yield up to 48 centners per hectare and oil content of about 56%. It is drought-, lodging-, and cold-tolerant, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. Additionally, the sunflower is resistant to most common diseases, including Phomopsis, rust, Phomosis, sclerotinia, and various races of downy mildew (A-F, 100, 304, 703, 710). A key feature is its resistance to damage by the sunflower moth, which is particularly relevant for regions with such pests.
The recommended planting density at harvest time is 65–75 thousand plants per hectare, ensuring optimal conditions for achieving stable and high yields. Due to its characteristics and reliability, Durban KS sunflower is highly sought after by Ukrainian farmers and is an effective solution for oilseed production.
