Faro

Sunflower Faro is a medium-maturing hybrid of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) with medium-height plants and no branching. Leaves are large, dark green with weakly expressed reticulation and large serration, and lateral winged segments are clearly visible. Flowers are ligulate, yellow, and tubular, also yellow with anthocyanic corolla. The head varies from small to medium, turned downward on a strongly curved stem, seed side has a slightly convex shape. Seeds are large, broad-ovoid, with main black coloration and weakly expressed gray stripes. Average seed yield across various regions reaches 20.3–24.6 t/ha, with yields on individual plots reaching up to 44.5–47.5 t/ha. Oil content in seeds ranges from 48.6–52.4%, ensuring high oil yield — 8.7–10.9 t/ha — meeting oil content standards and exceeding them by oil output. Hybrid Faro exhibits high drought and disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. It is well-adapted to low-water conditions, demonstrating stable yields even under adverse weather conditions. Thanks to these qualities, the hybrid shows high productivity, exceeding average yields of other varieties by 20% and more, confirmed by trials across various regions. Faro also exhibits resistance to herbicides containing tribenuron-methyl, allowing application of modern plant protection technologies such as SUMO technology. This makes the hybrid convenient for agronomic practices aimed at effective weed suppression and increased yield. Overall, hybrid Faro is a high-yielding, oil-rich, and stress-tolerant sunflower, suitable for intensive cultivation under various climatic conditions.
