Description
Sunflower variety "Kharkivskiy 49" is a simple oil-type hybrid registered in 1988 and recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem, Volga, and Ural regions. Developed in Kharkiv, this variety is ultra-early maturing with a vegetation period of 92-95 days, enabling effective use in crop rotation and ensuring stable yields.
Plants of this variety are characterized by low stature with stem height of 90-120 cm due to shortened internodes, contributing to high resistance to lodging. Heads are large, flat or slightly convex, up to 24 cm in diameter, with uniform and synchronized flowering. Seeds have a mass of 53-65 g per 1000 seeds, shell content of 99%, and dehiscence of 22-23%. Oil content in seeds is at the level of 49-52%, making this variety attractive for oil production.
"Kharkivskiy 49" exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including downy mildew, rust, false powdery mildew, gray and white mold, and phomopsis. Drought resistance is rated as medium, and shattering resistance is weak. Average seed yield varies from 32.0 to 39.1 c/ha, confirming its economic efficiency and reliability under various climatic conditions.
