Description
Sunflower LG 50480 — an early-maturing, high-yielding hybrid from Limagrain company, designed for cultivation in regions with short growing seasons and drought risk. Plants reach an average height of about 140 cm, with flower head diameter of approximately 17 cm and 1000-seed mass around 67 grams. The hybrid is characterized by high oil content, reaching up to 50%, ensuring high oil yield during processing. The flower head inclination is semi-tilted, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses.
LG 50480 exhibits high drought tolerance and resistance to major sunflower diseases, including race A-G of downy mildew, phomopsis, root rot, dry rot, phomosis, as well as new strains of false powdery mildew. These traits make the hybrid especially valuable for cultivation in regions with insufficient and unstable moisture, such as the South, East, Forest-Steppe, Polissia, and northern Steppe of Ukraine. The hybrid demonstrates high resistance to lodging and cold, contributing to stable yield formation.
Recommended planting density is 55 thousand plants per hectare under adequate moisture conditions and 45–50 thousand per hectare in drier regions. The hybrid’s yield potential exceeds 42 centners per hectare, and under favorable conditions, it can reach 3.5–4 tons per hectare. Due to its combination of early maturity, high productivity, and resistance to adverse factors, LG 50480 is an optimal choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality sunflower harvest.
