When selecting seeds for fields with high disease pressure, "Monrovia CS" by Caussade Semences became our "insurance policy." French breeding once again proved its reputation when dealing with complex pathogens. In conditions where other hybrids would succumb to phomopsis by mid-season, this sunflower stayed resilient, keeping its foliage green and active.

Field Durability and Protection

What is particularly crucial for a practical agronomist: the hybrid demonstrates excellent immunity to sclerotinia and rust. We avoided the need for additional fungicide treatments that typically eat into profit margins. The plants are uniform with a powerful root system, ensuring the crop can fill its seeds even during brief droughts. During harvest, "Monrovia CS" is predictable: the stems are sturdy and the heads do not dry out to the point of shattering, allowing for combine harvesting within optimal windows without critical losses.

Harvest Economics

For us, the primary criterion was oil content. Consistent 50-55% oil levels in the net weight make this hybrid highly liquid at the elevator. We produced well-filled, heavy grain with excellent test weight. The French genetics deliver results here: every bag of seeds justifies the investment without requiring overly complex field interventions. It is a straightforward, technologically efficient hybrid that forgives minor agronomic lapses but provides predictably high yields when standard protocols are followed.
