Description
Sunflower variety Numantia is a hybrid with high adaptability to stressful conditions and various soil types. It is characterized by a medium-late maturity period with a vegetative cycle of approximately 120 days, allowing successful cultivation in the Central Chernozem region, including the Oryol region. The 1000-seed mass is approximately 68.9 grams, indicating large seed size and high quality.
This hybrid exhibits high yield — on average, 39.4 centners per hectare, with oil content in seeds reaching 49–50%, making it attractive for linseed oil production. Oil yield can reach 13.4 centners per hectare. The sunflower is resistant to lodging and well-tolerates dense planting, which contributes to increased productivity on various soil types, including irrigated and naturally moist soils.
Numantia shows tolerance to several diseases, such as phomopsis, powdery mildew, and sclerotinia, as well as resistance to mold. Recommended planting density varies by region: in the steppe zone — around 50,000 plants per hectare, in the forest-steppe zone — 55,000, and on some plots, density may reach 60–70,000 plants per hectare. Seeds are treated with the Lumisena preparation and packaged in bags of 150,000 seeds, providing disease protection and promoting successful growth.
