Description
Odessa 504 (Sunlight) is an early, low-growing sunflower hybrid with high yield potential and adapted for cultivation in areas prone to drought and virulent races of downy mildew. Plants reach a height of approximately 140-150 cm, and the flower head diameter is about 17 cm. The hybrid is characterized by high oil content — up to 50% — making it attractive for oil production. The 1000-seed mass is around 67 grams, and the seedling vigor is high, ensuring good germination and early vegetative development.
Odessa 504 exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including Phomopsis, Phomoz, white mold, black mold, as well as new strains of downy mildew. The hybrid also shows excellent tolerance to downy mildew (strains A-G+), which is especially important for regions with aggressive pathogens. Additionally, it is resistant to lodging and possesses high cold tolerance, contributing to stable yield formation even under adverse climatic conditions.
The hybrid is recommended for conventional cultivation and adapts well to various soil-climatic conditions, particularly in southern Ukraine. The vegetation period is approximately 105-112 days, allowing for early harvest. The recommended planting density varies depending on soil moisture: 55,000 plants per hectare in well-watered zones and 45-50,000 in moderately watered zones. Odessa 504 is suitable for both seed production and oil extraction, demonstrating high productivity — up to 4.5-5.5 tons per hectare.
