Velko sunflower is a medium-early hybrid with a vegetation period of 108-112 days, characterized by rapid early growth and high adaptability to various climatic and soil conditions. Medium-height plants (about 170 cm) have semi-nodding heads with a diameter of 16-19 cm, facilitating harvesting. The hybrid features high oil content up to 50% and a 1000-seed mass of about 66 g, making it attractive for producing high-quality oil.

Velko exhibits resistance to a wide spectrum of diseases and pests, including six races of downy mildew (A-F), root, stem, leaf, and head sclerotinia, phomopsis, powdery mildew, gray mold, phomosis, and gray rot. Additionally, the hybrid demonstrates high resistance to lodging, stem breakage, drought, and heat, ensuring stable yields even under stress conditions. These agronomic traits make Velko a reliable choice for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones.

To achieve maximum yield and maintain high oil content, both conventional and intensive cultivation technologies are recommended, including the application of complex mineral fertilizers, particularly at the beginning of the vegetation period after the emergence of the sixth leaf. The use of herbicides specifically developed for sunflower helps control undesirable vegetation and promotes healthy crop development.
