Sunflower VNIIMK 8883 Improved is a new early-maturing variety of oilseed type, developed by selection of the most early-maturing biotypes. It is characterized by uniform flowering and maturation, as well as uniformity in plant height and development periods. The seeds of this variety have high pod-setting even under adverse weather conditions, ensuring stable yields.
The variety is distinguished by high oil content and resistance to major sunflower diseases, such as false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, Fusarium, and dry rot. Due to these qualities, VNIIMK 8883 Improved is widely used in breeding for increasing crop productivity and creating heterosis hybrids. It is also promising for repeated plantings, including post-harvest and post-harvest replanting, as well as for reseeding, which allows achieving yields up to 2.5 tons per hectare in repeated plantings.
The maturation period of the variety is medium-early, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions, including North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, and West Siberian. The producer of the variety is the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "VNIIMK named after V.S. Pustovoyt".
