Description
The white lupin variety 'OMY 2' is a mid-season, erect bush variety reaching up to 290 cm in height with weak anthocyanin stem coloring. The leaves are egg-shaped, hairless, and green; the stipules are awl-shaped and also hairless. The inflorescence is a medium-looseness spindle-shaped raceme, and the seeds are kidney-shaped, greenish-yellow or yellow with a hardness of 44.9%. The bush is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones.
The yield of dry matter is at the level of the standard: according to FGBNU 'Omsk ANC' data, it is 6.4–9.7 t/ha, and seeds are 0.30–0.89 t/ha. In SIBNIISKH tests, the average yield of green mass was 12–21.4 t/ha, dry matter was 4.8 t/ha, hay was 30–63 ц/ha, and seeds were 4.8–8.4 ц/ha. The variety is distinguished by increased protein content in the feed mass (15.5–21%) and good fiber content.
'OMY 2' is resistant to abiotic factors: powdery mildew affects it moderately, and the bean weevil also affects it moderately. The variety is also known as a good honey plant; bees collect excellent quality lupin honey. Thanks to the combination of high productivity, resistance to unfavorable conditions, and quality feed properties, 'OMY 2' is the preferred choice for farmers seeking to increase white lupin production efficiency.
