Description
Sretensky 1 is a two-year leguminous forage crop of meadow-pasture type, bred at the Sretenskaya GSS by mass selection from a wild sample and crossed with Amur material. Thanks to this, the variety is distinguished by high drought resistance, winter hardiness, and adaptability to a wide range of climatic conditions.
The yield of Sretensky 1 is impressive: green mass reaches 267 centners per hectare, and hay – 78 centners. The hay contains 18% protein and 31% fiber, making it a valuable feed for livestock. The plant is also widely used in the production of silage, haylage, and vitamin-herb meal.
In addition to feed, Sretensky 1 is an effective nectar plant and cover crop: due to its rich flowering, it attracts bees, and its deep root system improves soil structure. The plant has upright stems 70 to 300 cm high, trifoliate leaves, and elongated inflorescence spikes, which can be white or yellow. This makes it a universal choice for pasture and meadow systems in various regions.
