Description
The teresken OCHIR variety is an upright or sprawling plant about 75 cm tall, with uniform pubescence and broadly ovoid leaves measuring 8.5 cm in length and 3.2 cm in width. The leaves are colored light green to gray, while the inflorescences form a light green panicle of medium looseness with a length-to-width ratio of 1:3.
The vegetative period of the teresken OCHIR lasts from the beginning of spring vegetation until the first mowing and is approximately 80–91 days. The protein content of the plant ranges from 3.36–4.45%, while the fiber content is 27.2–30.5%. The average yield of green mass reaches 36.0 c/ha, which is 8.0 c/ha higher than the standard indicator, while the dry matter content is 16.0 c/ha (+3.0 c/ha above the standard).
Teresken OCHIR is distinguished by its high resistance to droughts, frosts, and soil salinization, making it ideal for cultivation in conditions of sharply continental and arid climates. It is widely used in the reforestation of steppe and desert zones, including projects to restore forests in Kalmykia, where more than 1,300 ha of shrubs are planned to be planted, among which is the teresken. Thanks to its adaptive properties, the plant contributes to fighting desertification, reducing fire hazards, and increasing the biological productivity of pastures.
