Description
AIDA vegetable pea is an early-maturing grain legume variety intended for shelling, canning, and fresh consumption. The period from the emergence of full seedlings to the beginning of technical pea ripeness is 55-61 days, which allows for a quick harvest. The plant is uniform-maturing, has a short stem and green leaves with a grayish tint and a waxy coating. Flowers are large and white, while pods are curved, medium length, and dark green at technical maturity. Seeds are wrinkled, medium-sized, with a mass of 1000 seeds ranging from 230 to 240 grams. The yield of green peas varies from 43 to 89 centners per hectare, indicating the high productivity of the variety. The variety is suitable for mechanical harvesting, which facilitates the harvest process and increases production efficiency. AIDA pea is distinguished by high cold resistance and earliness, making it universal for cultivation in various climatic conditions of the North Caucasus region. The plant is not demanding on soils and agro-technical practices; however, to achieve maximum yield, the use of fertilizer systems including optimal amounts of phosphorus, potassium, nitrogen, and microelements such as boron and molybdenum is recommended. Application of top dressing at early growth stages, during budding and flowering promotes full plant development and improves crop quality. The AIDA variety was developed and registered by LLC 'FITA-ALFA' and included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements for the North Caucasus region. Due to its characteristics, such as earliness, high yield, uniform maturity, and suitability for mechanical harvesting, this variety is an excellent choice for agricultural enterprises focused on producing green peas for canning and fresh consumption.
