Boston vegetable pea is an early-maturing and productive variety, distinguished by high stress tolerance and suitability for early sowing in open ground. The maturation period is 45-55 days, enabling early harvest. The plant is low-growing, reaching a height of 55-60 cm, has a branched structure and a well-developed root system, which promotes active flowering and pod setting.
Boston pea pods are 9-10 cm long and contain, on average, 9 large and tasty peas. Two to three pods form per node, and the number of nodes up to the first flowering cluster reaches 9. The yield ripens concentratedly, facilitating mechanized harvesting. The variety is characterized by uniformity of pods and high taste qualities, making it popular both for fresh consumption and for use after thermal processing.
Boston pea is resistant to diseases such as fusarium and chlorosis, and also exhibits resistance to pod splitting (HR: Fop 1). Due to these characteristics and high productivity, the variety is widely used for cultivation for fresh markets. Seed production is carried out in the Netherlands, guaranteeing high quality planting material.
