When working with green manures (siderates), it is essential to consider not only biomass but also field performance predictability. The spring vetch variety «Nadiya Podillya», bred by the Vinnytsia State Agricultural Research Station, has become a standard in Ukrainian crop rotation due to its high adaptability.

Operational performance

For an agronomist, the key is how quickly the crop covers the soil. This variety is noted for its intensive early growth, which is critical for weed suppression without chemical intervention. «Nadiya Podillya» behaves predictably: it requires no specific fertilizers, responds well to soil moisture, and forms a dense green canopy that converts into high-quality nitrogen-rich humus after incorporation.

Technical aspects

• Sowing window: Early planting allows for maximum utilization of spring moisture, ensuring uniform germination.
• Incorporation: The variety features an optimal stem structure, making it easy to shred and incorporate into the soil using standard disk harrows.
• Nitrogen fixation: As a typical legume, «Nadiya Podillya» excels at biological nitrogen accumulation, allowing for savings on mineral fertilizers for the subsequent crop (e.g., winter wheat).

This variety is low-maintenance. We observe excellent «post-harvest field condition»: the soil becomes more friable and structured, ready for the sowing of the main crop within a tight timeframe.
