Description
Grecian walnut variety Bukovinский 1 is a medium-sized tree with a moderate crown, reaching a height of up to 6 meters. Developed at the Transnistrian Experimental Station for Horticulture in 1997, this variety is distinguished by high cold resistance and disease resistance, including resistance to marsoniosis. Due to these qualities, this variety is successfully grown throughout Ukraine and is suitable for both home and commercial cultivation.
The fruits of variety Bukovinский 1 have a round shape and an average weight ranging from 10 to 14 grams. The shell is thin and easily cracks, allowing for the extraction of large, light-colored kernels, which constitute approximately 52.4% of the nut's weight. The nuts possess excellent taste qualities and high nutritional value, including content of fats, proteins, tannins, organic acids, pectins, and vitamin C. The ripening period occurs approximately in mid-September.
The tree begins to bear fruit as early as the 2nd–3rd year after planting, and stable yield reaches up to 120 kg per tree. Intensive flower bud formation contributes to regular and abundant fruiting. The variety prefers neutral soils with medium acidity and moderate moisture, making it versatile and profitable for cultivation under various conditions.
