Description
Ellada – a compact sub-shrub of the Asteraceae family, up to 70 cm tall and 60 cm in diameter, which grows successfully on saline soils of the southern coast of Crimea. The variety is characterized by high drought resistance and winter hardiness, as well as resistance to pests and diseases, making it ideal for cultivation under conditions of limited water availability.
Harvesting of above-ground biomass is carried out during the phase of mass flowering – October, when the plant reaches maximum yield. Raw material yield can reach 50 centners per hectare, and when harvesting essential oil – up to 70 kg/ha. The mass fraction of essential oil is about 1.5% of the dry mass, of which neral and geranial make up to 50%. The perfume rating of the obtained oil is at the level of 4.5 points on a five-point scale.
Ellada is valued for its high content of aromatic compounds, which makes its raw material in demand in the perfume and cosmetic industries. Due to its resistance to adverse climatic conditions and low requirement for fertilizers, this variety provides an economically viable option for farmers seeking environmentally clean and profitable agriculture.
