Description
KIMMERIA is a variety of Crimean mugwort (Artemisia turrica Willd.) created through selection within the Crimean population. It is characterized by high above-ground biomass yield reaching 16.2 t/ha under favorable conditions, and rich in essential oil, comprising 1.43% of the raw mass (2.90% of the fully dry mass). Upon harvesting, approximately 230.2 kg of oil per hectare is obtained. The oil contains 80-90% thujones, making it a valuable source of aromatic compounds.
Plants of this variety have an average height of about 61.4 cm and a bush diameter of approximately 104.1 cm. The habitus is semi-spreading, leaves are glaucous-green, and the corolla is red. KIMMERIA belongs to late-maturing varieties: the vegetative period lasts from 201 to 216 days, and technical ripeness is achieved in October (from October 4 to 10). The variety is propagated vegetatively and is intended exclusively for the production of essential oil.
Due to its high content of essential oils and thujones, KIMMERIA is widely used in aromatherapy, perfume production, and pharma. Thanks to stable yield and product quality, this variety is a preferred choice for commercial cultivation of Crimean mugwort.
