Althaea officinalis «Albion» – an annual plant reaching a height of 50–55 cm with a compact rosette of dark green leaves and snow-white inflorescences consisting of small flowers. Its erect stems reach a height of 50–70 cm, while the mass of one plant is 240–280 g.
Fertile soils and sunny spots – optimal conditions for the growth of «Albion». The plant easily adapts to various climatic conditions, however, waterlogging can negatively affect its development. Care for it is simple: moderate watering, soil loosening, and periodic feeding will ensure a high yield.
«Albion» is distinguished by high productivity both as green mass (2.4–2.8 kg/m²) and essential oil. In the composition of the oil, citral (up to 63%) and geraniol (up to 51%) predominate, as well as linalool and linalyl acetate. Thanks to these components, the plant possesses antifungal and antimicrobial properties and is widely used in cooking, perfumery, confectionery production, and canning industry.
