It functions as an obligate ectoparasite, utilizing a specialized feeding apparatus known as a stylet to puncture and extract nutrients from the root tissues of host plants.

The primary hosts affected by this nematode are citrus species. Feeding activities cause significant damage to root hairs, which leads to stunted plant growth, chlorosis, and general tree decline. Furthermore, the feeding sites serve as infection points for secondary pathogens, such as soil-borne fungi and bacteria, which exacerbate root rot and further reduce the plant's nutrient uptake capacity.
