The Mithridates Skipper (Achlyodes mithridates) is a butterfly species belonging to the Hesperiidae family, order Lepidoptera. This pest is primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions, where it poses a notable threat to various ornamental and agricultural plants, with a strong preference for the Rutaceae family.
The primary host plants for the larvae include various species of citrus (Citrus spp.) and Zanthoxylum. The caterpillars feed aggressively on foliage, consuming large sections of the leaf blade or creating skeletonized patterns, which significantly diminishes the plant's ability to photosynthesize and maintain vigor.
