Afromurzinia lutescens is a beetle species belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae (weevils). As an agricultural pest, it presents unique challenges due to its cryptic lifecycle and the ability of its larvae to cause significant damage to the host plant tissues before detection is possible.

The pest primarily targets specific woody plants and various agricultural crops. By invading the internal structural tissues of the host, Afromurzinia lutescens disrupts the plant's nutrient transport systems, which can lead to stunted development and, in severe cases, the complete death of the plant specimen.
