Agroiconota is a genus of tortoise beetles belonging to the subfamily Cassidinae within the family Chrysomelidae. These beetles are characterized by their flattened, shield-like appearance, which allows them to closely adhere to host plant foliage, providing camouflage against both avian and insect predators.

Classified under the order Coleoptera, these insects are primarily found in the Neotropical regions. Their host range is largely restricted to the Solanaceae family. As agricultural pests, they can significantly impact various crops by consuming foliage throughout their larval and adult life stages.

The life cycle of Agroiconota includes egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. Larvae are known for a unique defensive strategy where they carry their own excrement on their backs as a fecal shield. This behavior not only acts as a physical barrier against predators but also helps regulate microclimate conditions during their development.
