While many species in this family are recognized as soil dwellers or predators, this specific mite has been identified as a significant issue in greenhouse environments, where it can behave as an opportunistic pest, affecting various horticultural crops.

This pest primarily infests greenhouse vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, as well as various ornamental potted plants. They thrive in environments with high organic matter content in the soil and elevated humidity levels, which allow them to migrate from the substrate to the aerial parts of the plant during periods of stress or high population density.

The life cycle of Ameroseius plumigerus follows a typical mite development pattern, including egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages. Favorable environmental conditions, specifically temperatures between 22°C and 27°C and high relative humidity, significantly accelerate the developmental rate, often leading to rapid population explosions within a short timeframe.
