Description

Systematic position. The Jute semi-looper (Anomis sabulifera) belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Noctuidae. It is a well-known agricultural pest primarily found in regions where fiber crops are cultivated on a commercial scale, significantly impacting crop yields.

Host plants. The primary host for this species is jute (Corchorus spp.). However, the pest is also capable of feeding on various wild and cultivated species within the Malvaceae family, allowing it to survive and propagate throughout the growing season.

Biology and life cycle. The life cycle comprises four distinct stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa, and adult moth. Eggs are typically laid on the abaxial surface of leaves.
