Arichanna is a genus of moths belonging to the family Geometridae within the order Lepidoptera. These nocturnal insects are recognized for their larvae, which can cause significant damage to a variety of woody plants, shrubs, and ornamental species in both forest and orchard environments.

This pest primarily affects several deciduous tree species, including members of the Rosaceae family. In agricultural landscapes and hedgerows adjacent to croplands, the caterpillars may migrate to fruit trees, necessitating consistent monitoring of the vegetation throughout the active growing season.

The biology of Arichanna follows a complete metamorphosis life cycle: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Females deposit eggs on the bark or leaves of host plants. Larval activity aligns with the period of intense sap flow and leaf canopy formation, which is crucial for the overall health and development of the host tree.

Damage symptoms typically manifest as skeletonized or completely defoliated leaf blades. During outbreaks, the larvae can cause severe crown thinning, which significantly weakens the plant's defense mechanisms, reduces wood growth increments, and leads to substantial yield losses in fruit-bearing crops due to impaired photosynthesis.
