Aulacophora abdominalis is a significant pest belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. Commonly known as the pumpkin leaf beetle, this insect is a notorious defoliator that specifically targets cucurbitaceous plants. Its presence in agricultural fields poses a serious threat to the production of high-quality vegetables, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions.
The primary host range of this beetle includes various crops such as cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, melons, and watermelons.
