Description

Aulacophora excavata is a destructive insect pest belonging to the Chrysomelidae family within the Coleoptera order. It is widely recognized as a significant threat to agriculture, specifically targeting cucurbitaceous plants, leading to severe yield reductions in many regions of Asia.

The host plants for this species are primarily members of the Cucurbitaceae family. This includes important commercial crops such as cucumbers, pumpkins, melons, watermelons, and squashes. Both the adult beetles and their larvae pose a constant threat to these crops throughout the growing season.
