Mannerheim's ground beetle (Bembidion mannerheimii) belongs to the family Carabidae within the order Coleoptera. While many ground beetles are recognized as beneficial predators, this specific species can exhibit phytophagous behavior, occasionally causing damage to cultivated crops when environmental conditions favor an increase in their population density.

This pest predominantly affects vegetable and cereal crops, particularly during the early seedling stages. Both adults and larvae can feed on the tender tissues of germinating seeds and cotyledons.
