Bodotria is a genus of small crustaceans belonging to the order Cumacea and the family Bodotriidae. While primarily known as marine benthic organisms, they can become an agricultural concern when introduced into farming systems through irrigation water drawn from coastal or estuarine water sources, potentially affecting soil-grown crops.
The crops most susceptible to Bodotria presence are those cultivated in waterlogged environments or flooded fields. When these crustaceans infiltrate irrigation channels, they can target the root systems of seedlings. Their feeding habits focus on organic detritus but can extend to the delicate root tissues of young plants under high-density conditions.
