Caenurgina is a genus of moths belonging to the Erebidae family, known in agricultural contexts as significant pests of forage legumes. Systematically, these insects are classified within the order Lepidoptera. The most prominent species within this genus, such as Caenurgina erechtea and Caenurgina crassiuscula, are primarily known for their impact on legume fields in North America.

The primary crops affected by this pest include alfalfa, clover, soybeans, and various vetch species. The larvae demonstrate a strong feeding preference for legume foliage. During outbreaks, the feeding activity can lead to substantial reductions in both hay yield and total biomass, causing economic losses for farmers and producers of animal feed.
