Calidea apicalis

Calidea apicalis is a significant insect pest belonging to the Scutelleridae family (shield-backed bugs) within the order Hemiptera. Commonly found in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia, this brightly colored bug is notorious for causing substantial yield losses in various economically important agricultural crops.

The primary hosts of Calidea apicalis include cotton, soybeans, and other leguminous plants. By utilizing their piercing-sucking mouthparts, these insects extract vital nutrients from the plant's vascular system.
