Calodromius is a genus of ground beetles (Carabidae) within the order Coleoptera. While many carabids are recognized as beneficial predators, members of this specific genus are often associated with bark and wood surfaces of trees. Their morphological adaptations allow them to thrive in crevices, making them a unique subject of study in entomology and arboriculture.

This pest primarily affects a variety of fruit and ornamental trees. Orchardists often encounter them on apples, pears, and various deciduous forest species. The presence of these beetles is usually linked to the structural condition of the tree bark, where they seek shelter and protection from both weather elements and larger predators.

The biology of Calodromius involves a complete metamorphosis, including egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. The development process is closely synchronized with seasonal temperatures. This mechanical damage often creates entry points for fungal pathogens and moisture, which can ultimately lead to localized tissue necrosis.
