Campoplex validus

Campoplex validus is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the order Hymenoptera and the family Ichneumonidae. In agricultural settings, it is recognized as a beneficial parasitoid rather than a crop pest, as it actively contributes to the biological suppression of various caterpillar populations.

The insect does not damage crops directly. Instead, it relies on host larvae to complete its life cycle. By parasitizing caterpillars that feed on leaves, stems, or fruits, it effectively regulates their population density. This makes the species an important ally in integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, providing sustainable control that reduces dependency on chemical insecticides.

This process effectively terminates the pest life cycle prematurely.

Their specificity ensures that they primarily target the intended pest hosts, leaving beneficial insects largely unaffected compared to broad-spectrum pesticides.
