Systematic position: The necklace ground beetle (Carabus monilis) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Carabidae. While ground beetles are generally considered beneficial predators, Carabus monilis can occasionally exhibit feeding behavior that makes it a nuisance in agricultural settings, particularly when natural food sources are scarce.
