Systematic position: The beetle Carpophilus nepos is a member of the order Coleoptera and the family Nitidulidae, commonly referred to as sap beetles or dried fruit beetles. Host plants: This pest is polyphagous and infests a wide range of fruit crops. It is particularly damaging to peaches, apricots, strawberries, and grapes. Furthermore, it causes substantial economic losses in storage facilities by attacking dried fruits, processed grain products, and various vegetables that have been damaged by other pests or mechanical means.

Biology and life cycle: The lifecycle of Carpophilus nepos is tightly linked to the availability of fermenting organic matter. Adult females deposit eggs in the crevices or wounds of fruits.
