Description

Cephalotoma is a genus of insects belonging to the order Hymenoptera and the family Argidae (sawflies). These insects are recognized as specialized pests that primarily target the foliage of various woody plants and shrubs. Their biological impact is significant, particularly during the larval stage when they feed voraciously on leaves, potentially weakening the host plant significantly.

The range of host plants susceptible to Cephalotoma primarily includes ornamental trees, garden shrubs, and certain forest species. Under favorable conditions, the larvae can cause widespread defoliation, leading to stunted growth, reduced vigor, and increased susceptibility to secondary infections or environmental stress factors like drought or frost.
