The primary host plants for Ceramidia phemonoides are species of the genus Musa. The larvae are highly specialized herbivores that focus their feeding activity on the foliage, often congregating in large numbers that lead to widespread damage across cultivated fields if left unchecked.
The biological cycle consists of four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The females lay eggs in clusters on the underside of banana leaves.
