Biology and life cycle: Adult beetles overwinter in sheltered areas, such as leaf litter or soil near the fields. They emerge in the spring to feed on foliage. The female beetle lays eggs in the soil near the host plant, and the larvae emerge to feed on the root system before pupating in the ground and emerging as adults.
