The shiny leaf beetle, scientifically classified as Chrysolina lucida, is a member of the Coleoptera order and the Chrysomelidae family. This insect is characterized by its iridescent, metallic elytra, which make it easily identifiable. As a dedicated phytophage, this species targets specific plant tissues, impacting agricultural productivity within its geographical range.

The host range of Chrysolina lucida primarily includes various cereal crops and specific grass species.
