Description

The Azure damselfly (Coenagrion puella) is a member of the Odonata order and the Coenagrionidae family. It is a common species across Europe, typically found near still or slow-moving water bodies with lush aquatic vegetation. They are easily identified by their striking blue and black markings, often seen flying in tandem during the mating season.

From an agronomical perspective, it is crucial to clarify that the Azure damselfly is not a plant pest. In fact, they are considered beneficial insects in agricultural landscapes. Both the adults and their aquatic nymphs act as predators, feeding on various small insects, including mosquitoes, which helps maintain natural biological control in the environment.
