Grape colaspis (Colaspis flavida) is a destructive insect species belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. While native to North America, it poses a significant threat to agriculture, often causing unexpected economic losses in various grain and fruit crops due to its versatile feeding habits.

The host range of this pest is remarkably broad, including crops such as grapes, strawberries, soybeans, corn, and potatoes. Because both the adult beetles and the soil-dwelling larvae cause damage, the plant is attacked from two fronts, which often leads to severe physiological stress and reduced developmental vigor in affected plants.

The life cycle of Colaspis flavida is characterized by a complete metamorphosis. Larvae typically overwinter in the soil at variable depths. As soil temperatures rise in the spring, larvae feed on plant roots before pupating. Adult beetles emerge in early summer, congregate on foliage, and begin the reproductive phase of their cycle.
