Host plants and damage potential: The larvae of this species feed primarily on plants of the Vaccinium genus, especially bog bilberry (Vaccinium uliginosum). While it is generally regarded as a specialized feeder rather than a major agricultural pest, it can cause localized damage in managed commercial plantations of ericaceous berry crops.

Biology and lifecycle: The species undergoes complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Butterflies are diurnal and highly mobile. Eggs are laid singly on the host plant's foliage. The larval stage is the primary feeding phase, during which the caterpillars grow and develop, eventually forming a pupa attached to the host plant or nearby vegetation.

Nature of damage: Larval feeding results in leaf tissue loss, ranging from small holes to complete defoliation of the shoots. Intense herbivory reduces the overall leaf area available for photosynthesis, which stresses the plant, restricts shoot development, and can negatively influence the formation of floral buds for the subsequent harvest season.
