The rusty leaf beetle (Costalimaita ferruginea) is a member of the Chrysomelidae family within the order Coleoptera. Recognized as a significant pest, this species is notorious for damaging various woody plants, particularly in forest plantations and reforestation areas across its geographical range.

The primary host plants for this beetle include various species of the Eucalyptus genus. Both adult beetles and their larvae exhibit feeding habits that target the foliage of these trees.
