The pest primarily affects seedlings and ornamental plants in greenhouse environments. Their presence is often linked to excessive moisture and abundant organic matter in the potting media, which provides an ideal habitat and a constant food source for these rapidly multiplying arthropods.

The biology of Dicyrtomina ornata involves incomplete metamorphosis. They thrive in environments with high humidity and moderate temperatures.
